I am writing to express my interest in becoming a candidate the Polish Section to the Executive Committee of the International Association of Theatre Critics. As an experienced theater critic and historian, I have been actively involved in the field for several years, and I believe that my extensive background and expertise make me an ideal candidate for this position.
Currently, I serve as a lecturer on the history of Polish and world theater and drama at the Puppet Branch in Białystok of the Theater Academy in Warsaw. Additionally, I hold the position of vice-chairman of the Polish Section of the International Association of Theater Critics AICT/IATC and am a member of the Management Board of the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Stage Artists. I have also hosted a weekly theater program on Polskie Radio 24 called « Round 2, Place 4 » and have collaborated as a cultural journalist of Polish Radio One and Polish Radio Two.
Furthermore, I am a member of the Association of Polish Stage Artists, serving as a member of the board of the Puppet Theater Section and the Warsaw Branch. In addition, I was a Member of the Board of the International Association of Theater Critics AICT/IACT, elected for a two-year term (social media coordinator mainly). I have also served as a lecturer in the History of Theater, History of Art and Costume, and Self-Creation at the Post-Secondary Vocal and Acting School in Białystok between 2013 and 2022. Moreover, I have been a lecturer at the local Puppetry Art Department of the Theater Academy. Al. Zelwerowicz in Warsaw since 2013.
I have also been a member of the Board of the Polish Section of the International Association of Theater Critics AITC/IATC since 2013, serving as vice-chairman for international contacts since February 2015. Moreover, in the second half of 2013 and 2015, I acted as a member of the Management Board of the International Association of Theater Critics, replacing Tomasz Miłkowski. In 2016, I served as the Chairman of the Artistic Committee of the Teatr Polska program. Furthermore, between 2016 and 2023, I served as the Representative of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the jury awarding the Award Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz awarded for the popularization of Polish theater in the world by the Polish Center of the International Theater Institute.
I have collaborated with various magazines, including « Teatr, » « Sceny Polskie, » « Scena, » « Aspiracje, » and « Teatr Lalek. » In 2012, I was one of the organizers of the AITC Congress in Warsaw, and in 2016, I co-organized the AICT Young Critic Seminar with the Wrocław – European Capital of Culture project on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (I was a coordinator of workshops). I have also served as an expert of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s « Theater and Dance » subsidy program and as a member of the jury of the Theater Institute and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage competition « Living Classics. » Additionally, I am a co-author of the book « Several views of the Białystok theater » dedicated to the history and present of the Dramatic Theater. Al. Węgierki in Białystok (chapter « Like a phoenix from the ashes. Aleksander Węgierki Drama Theater in Białystok 1944-2018 »).
In 2022, I was the originator, organizer, and coordinator of the world’s first international puppet theater criticism workshops (English-speaking and Polish-speaking groups) accompanying the 9th International Festival of Puppet Schools LALKA-NIE-LALKA in Białystok (co-organizers: Polish Section of AICT and Puppet Theater Section of ZASP).
