The most recent IATC Workshop for Young Critics took place in Limoges (France) between the 12th and the 17th of June. It was hosted and supported by the “Festival international des écoles dthéâtre et de cirque”, organized by the Théâtre de l’Union – Centre dramatique national du Limousin, directed by Jean Lambert-wild. A total of ten young critics participated, from IcelandSerbiaSlovakiaThailandTurkeythe Czech Republic and France. Three of the participants were French speakersbut everyone worked in one single groupThe coordinators were Jean-Pierre Han (IATC V-P., Directoof workshopsFrance), Michel Vaïs (IATC Secretary general, Québec) and Mariko Anazawa (Adjunct Director of workshops, Japan).

The workshop has daily sessions, in the morning and afternoon, and they involved reviews, which  every participant had to write about the shows included in the festival programmeSpringing from these reviews, a discussion on criticism developed. We have learned not only about the techniques of writing about theatre, but also about the role of the critic and the teaching of theatre criticism, reflecting on the great diversity of such an international festival.
