Mariko Anazawa and Aglika Stefanova-Oltean, together with the young critics

The IATC organized a workshop for young critics from 3 to 9 October, in Iasi, Romania, thanks to the support of the International Festival for Young Audiences. There were seven participants, all professional critics, coming from Canada, Hong Kong, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Russia and Turkey. Three of them were French-speaking, and four were English-Speaking, so  it was decided that they should form only one group. The monitors were Mariko Anazawa, from Japan (Adjunct Director of workshops) and Aglika Stefanova-Oltean, from Bulgaria.

The workshop had daily afternoon sessions, in a room of the Book House, and involved analyses of the shows presented in the programme of the festival, and open discussions around them. There were also presentations about the general situation of theatre (for adults as well as for young audiences) in each of participants’ respective countries. All these discussions helped the young critics to reflect on the role of criticism in the particular field of theatre for young audiences.
