The Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival will host an IATC Young Critic’s Workshop in Stockholm between the 23rd and the 29th of August. Bergman’s centenary is celebrated in Sweden throughout the entire year: different events such as expositions and conferences form a complex programme dedicated to his legacy. However, this theatre festival at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm is the highlight, and it coincides with the opening of the new theatrical season.
The workshop will be monitored by Russian critic Alexandra Dunaeva, assisted by a few Swedish critics (among them: the IATC president, Margareta Sörenson).
Maxim Gorki Theatre (Germany), Mehr Theatre Group (Iran) and Burgtheater (Austria) are three of the companies present in the festival’s programme. The Royal Dramatic Theatre’s own productions are related to the works of Ingmar Bergman, and have been created by stage directors such as Falk Richter, Suzanne Osten and Eirik Stubö. Interestingly, Stubö has staged a play written by one of Bergman’s actors, Erland Josephson.
Applicants should email the director of the young critic’s workshops, Jean-Pierre Han before the 15th of July. More info on the festival at: dramaten.se/bergmanfestivalen
