The first IATC Conference after the one organized in conjunction with the Congress took place in Bucharest, and focused on the generous topic of comedy: ‘I laugh, therefore I think’ — The Power of Comedy in the Twenty-first Century. Presenters from four different continents met in the framework of festCO, the Comedy Festival of Bucharest, to discuss the value and the multiple implications of comedy on the contemporary stage. The Keynote Speaker was Hans-Thies Lehmann, professor of theatre studies and author of the well-known study, Postdramatic Theatre. The success of the IATC conference was matched by the atmosphere of the festival, which ended with a unique Pekin Opera (Jing Ju) show presented by Star Theatre from Beijing.
