The Romanian Section of IATC – Theatre Studies is pleased to inform colleagues worldwide that Romanian theatre is making a return, after being kept alive during the health crisis through various online channels. The Section’s board member, Cristiana Gavrila, is in charge of two of the most important programmes of the National Theatre of Bucharest (NTB): 9G, dedicated to the theatre artists of the new generation, and NTB Amphitheatre, the most sought-after summer venue of the city, situated on the building’s rooftop (see photo). In this double capacity, she is pleased to announce that the Rooftop Amphitheatre will soon be open for the public with a special summer season of performances.

Also, Sibiu International Theatre Festival, one of the world’s largest theatre events, goes online for the first time! The main programme will feature many original productions, as well as a series of talks and dialogues. Octavian Saiu, President of the Romanian Section of IATC – Theatre Studies, will be in conversation with artists such as Sasha Waltz, Robert Wilson, Thomas Ostermeier, Akram Khan, and Declan Donnnellan. He will also chair the extraordinary online edition of the International Conference of The Doctoral Platform for The Study of Theatre and Cultural Management, with more than 50 speakers from all over the world.
