The Executive Committee of the International Association of Theatre Critics is pleased to announce that we will hold the 2026 World Congress and General Assembly in Craiova, Romania. Details are still in formation, but we know that we will be hosted for the inclusive dates of 19 to 25 May 2026. We will be engaged with the International Shakespeare Festival in Craiova, which runs from 21 to 31 May 2026.
The current Executive Committee and Officers of the association will arrive on 19 May 2026. Delegates to the Congress will arrive on 20 May 2026. As of this writing, the departure date is 25 May 2026.
To qualify for accommodation and/or voting privileges at the Congress and General Assembly, all members must have paid their dues for 2026 and be up to date for past years.
The Conference Committee appointed by the Executive Committee is working on the conference topic. The conference call for abstracts should be released within the next few weeks.
We will also issue an announcement next week regarding the 2026 Thalia Prize recipient who will be honored during the Congress.
Participants should be aware that Bucharest is likely the preferred air terminal for transfer to Craiova. We are told that there are some regional air possibilities through Craiova.
Registration information will be provided in the coming weeks, and you will be hearing from the Nominating Committee about potential leadership opportunities within the association.
