Dear Members of IATC,
We write today to encourage you to offer yourself as a candidate for the Executive Committee, for President, or for General Secretary of the International Association of Theatre Critics. We are working to prepare the next generation of thinkers and analysts who will lead us deeper into the 21st century as we advocate for free expression and for excellence in theatre.
The Executive Committee requires representatives of ten (10) National Member Associations whose dues are fully paid by the date of the election. National Member Associations may recommend a candidate for office on the Executive Committee.
Regarding the Executive Committee, the IATC Statutes state:
At each General Assembly, a new Executive Committee composed of ten National Member Associations will be elected. Candidacies for the new Executive Committee must be received in writing by the General Secretary no later than three months before a General Assembly. Statements of candidacy should indicate the name of the individual from each Member Association who will stand for election to the next Executive Committee. The statement should include reasons for the Member Association’s candidacy and why the individual representative is a suitable candidate. The statement should be less than a single page and written in one or both of the official languages of the Association. (Article 5, Section 4)
Regarding the offices of President and General Secretary, the IATC Statutes state:
The General Assembly will elect a President and General Secretary. The President and General Secretary must belong to a Member Association. The President’s Member Association may not hold a seat on the Executive Committee during the President’s term of office. (Article 5, Section 3)
We recognize that members from certain countries have difficulty paying their dues in a timely fashion because of challenges arising from the international banking system. As a result, we are attempting to make payment as flexible as possible. That noted, payment in full of all section dues owed must be paid no later than 21 May 2026, which is the day before the General Assembly when the election will be held.
The deadline for submission of candidacies is 15 February 2026 and should be e-mailed to the General Secretary: secgen@aict-iatc.org. According to the statutes, confirmed in the 2024 General Assembly in Brno, the Nominating Committee is responsible collating the candidacy statements into a common form. Candidates will be given time during the elections at the General Assembly to speak about their interest in serving IATC.
Thank you for your interest in building bridges between and among our cultures.
All best wishes,
JEFFREY ERIC JENKINS
President, International Association of Theatre Critics
NATALIA TVALTCHRELIDZE
