The Critics’ Summit in Wuzhen, China

The second edition of the “Critics’ Summit”, organized by the Chinese Section of IATC,took place in the magnificent setting of Wuzhen International Theatre Festival on the 26^th of October, 2017. The event was dedicated to the spirit of young theatre critics working in the context of multiculturalism. Participants from various countries talked about the scope and meaning of contemporary theatre criticism, and also had an extensive discussion about the shows presented in the programme of the festival. The special guest of the event was the renowned critic and theatre scholar, Hans-Thies Lehmann, who offered an insightful view on the core principles of this profession. His introductory address was greatly appreciated not only by the critics from all generations who were present at the event, but also by the members of the audience: students, theatre artists, producers, festival directors, etc.
